Shockwave Therapy

A targeted tool to stimulate healing in stubborn or chronic tissue — used intentionally as part of a complete care plan.

What Is Shockwave Therapy?

Shockwave Therapy uses focused acoustic pressure waves to stimulate healing in injured or chronically irritated tissue.

It is commonly used when areas of the body have become slow to heal due to poor circulation, long-standing inflammation, or repetitive strain. The mechanical stimulus encourages blood flow, cellular activity, and tissue remodeling — helping the body restart its natural healing process.

We use shockwave as a clinical tool, not a standalone treatment, and only when it makes sense for the tissue involved.

How Shockwave Therapy Works

Shockwave therapy works by delivering targeted acoustic waves into specific areas of tissue to:

  • Increase local blood flow
  • Stimulate cellular repair and regeneration
  • Break up chronic tissue restrictions or calcifications
  • Support tendon and soft-tissue remodeling

This process helps address why tissue isn’t healing, rather than masking symptoms.

Why We Use Shockwave Therapy

We don’t use shockwave as a passive or repetitive treatment.

We use it when tissue needs an additional stimulus to heal — and we integrate it into active care.

Shockwave therapy at Modern Movement is:

  • Used intentionally, not automatically
  • Guided by assessment and reassessment
  • Integrated with rehab, mobility, and movement
  • Focused on long-term improvement, not short-term relief

The goal is meaningful change, not dependency on treatment.

Shockwave Therapy Can Help With:

Shockwave therapy may be appropriate for individuals dealing with:

  • Chronic tendon pain (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff, elbow)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Calcific shoulder issues
  • Persistent soft-tissue pain
  • Areas that haven’t responded to rest or traditional care

Not every condition requires shockwave — and we’ll only recommend it when it fits your specific presentation.

What a Shockwave Session Looks Like

Assessment

We evaluate your movement, symptoms, and tissue quality

Targeted Application -

Shockwave is applied to specific areas based on your needs

Integration –

Treatment is paired with movement or corrective work when appropriate

Reassessment –

Progress determines whether continued use is necessary

Ready to See if Shockwave Therapy Is Right for You?

Shockwave therapy is only used when it makes sense for your tissue, goals, and movement needs.

We’ll assess your movement and determine whether shockwave belongs in your care plan.
